Search for the medical jet took place near Nantucket

A Gulfstream G‑100 medical jet carrying six people went missing early Saturday morning off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Flight data shows the aircraft, leased by Latitude Air Ambulances, dropped sharply from about 24,000 feet to 11,000 feet before losing radio contact.

Authorities, including the FAA and the U.S. Coast Guard, initiated an air and sea search immediately after the aircraft went dark.

The jet had departed Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport at 23:40 local time and was scheduled to land at Boston’s Logan International Airport by 01:30 EDT.

Officials hope to locate the wreckage or rescue any survivors as the search extends across the Atlantic near Nantucket.
