Lindsay Clancy has walked back into a Boston courthouse, the first time she has appeared in court since the mistrial of her 2023 murder case that left three children dead.
Her legal team, led by Kevin Reddington, filed a motion asking Judge William Sullivan to dismiss the case, claiming she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis when she killed Cora aged five, Dawson aged three and eight‑month‑old Callan.
Prosecutor Shanan Buckingham countered that the evidence shows Clancy was fully aware of her actions, stating the state had “met its burden” in proving her intent and mental fitness.
Judge Sullivan set a November hearing to review the dismissal request and other motions, urging both sides to propose possible retrial dates. Reddington said a new trial would not occur until at least June, while the district attorney emphasized that the investigation would continue before any decision on a fresh indictment is made.
Earlier in September a jury was unable to reach a verdict due to a lone hold‑out, leading to the declaration of a mistrial. The case, which has attracted national attention, remains open as the court prepares to decide on the next steps.
