U.S. President Donald Trump has officially nominated State Department spokeswoman and ex-Fox News host Tammy Bruce to serve as the U.S. deputy representative to the United Nations. Announcing her nomination on Truth Social, Trump expressed confidence in Bruce's capabilities, stating that she has performed a "fantastic job" since joining the State Department at the start of his presidency in January.
Tammy Bruce, known for her two-decade stint as a conservative contributor on Fox News, has also penned several books criticizing liberal agendas, such as "Fear Itself: Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda." Trump referred to her as a “Great Patriot,” highlighting her role in representing U.S. interests on the international stage, should her nomination proceed successfully through the Senate.
As the spokesperson for the State Department, Bruce has advocated for various contentious U.S. foreign policy initiatives, including Trump's strict immigration policies and the controversial decision to deploy private military contractors to aid in Gaza.
Trump's nominee for UN ambassador, Mike Waltz, still awaits Senate confirmation, while Dorothy Shea currently serves as the acting ambassador, having previously been the deputy ambassador in 2024. It remains uncertain when Tammy Bruce might officially assume her duties if confirmed.
