US President Donald Trump has said he is holding off a military attack on Iran planned for Tuesday at the request of Gulf states as serious negotiations are now taking place.
In a post on Truth Social, he said he had been asked to do so by the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
He stated that a deal was forthcoming that is very acceptable to the US, asserting there would be NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN! But he warned that the US would be ready to go forward with a full, large scale assault of Iran, on a moment's notice if there was no acceptable deal.
A senior Iranian military commander cautioned the US not to make any strategic mistakes and miscalculations again.
Trump's announcement appears to come amid declining approval ratings and growing public discontent with the ongoing conflict. Recent polls indicate that 64% of voters believe the decision to go to war was incorrect, reflecting a tough landscape for Republicans as midterm elections approach.
The situation remains fraught with complexity as Iranian leaders express their demands through intermediaries, and Gulf nations fear further retaliation from Tehran. So far, a ceasefire has held despite sporadic exchanges of fire, but the tension remains high over the ongoing conflict dynamics in the region.
