Several arrests were made in Egypt after an alleged fraud involving fake judges who lured victims through fabricated court scenes and social media posts.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced the arrest of two main suspects—an unemployed man and a student in Cairo and Giza—engaged in a scam that pretended to involve real judges and court proceedings. The suspects admitted to forming a gang that promised housing allocation from government agencies, taking money from citizens, and staging fake court scenes with judicial sashes. Police seized weapons, forged documents and evidence of the fictitious judicial identities. State‑owned newspaper Al‑Ahram reported that other court employees were also detained and questioned, revealing wider complicity. The crackdown follows a complaint by a victim who was misled by a man claiming judicial authority, prompting a swift investigation and expedited trial.

Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of two main suspects involved in a fraud operation that featured impersonation of judges and staged court scenes to defraud citizens.

According to the ministry, the operation was carried out by an unemployed man and a student from Cairo and Giza, who claimed they could allocate housing through government agencies. They used a judicial sash and forged ID cards to fake legal authority and posted videos and photos on social media.

Police seized a firearm, a judicial sash and documents bearing false judicial titles. The suspects confessed to filming inside a courthouse and disseminating the footage to boost the illusion of legitimacy.

Al‑Ahram reported that several court employees were also detained and questioned. Authorities said they were told the main suspect portrayed himself as a government clerk, and that the operation included a criminal gang taking money from the public.

The uncovering of the plot began when a citizen claimed to have been scammed by a man presenting himself as a judge. This led to an investigation, the suspect’s arrest and the ensuing expedited criminal trial.
