Newly‑Released Video Shows Peter Falconio’s Killer Questioned
Australian police have released body‑cam footage of a June 2025 interrogation aimed at getting former outback criminal Bernard “Bradley” Murdoch to reveal the location of Peter Falconio’s body. The release comes on the 25th anniversary of Fauclan‑io’s June 2001 murder.
Huddersfield‑born Falconio was shot on a remote stretch of highway near the Northern Territory town of Barrow Creek while travelling with girlfriend Joanne Lees. Lees was abducted by Murdoch but escaped after hiding in scrub for several hours, before two truck drivers intercepted her and led her to safety.
In the newly released footage, a police officer is seen asking Murdoch to consider the case “as if you were Peter Falconio’s son” in order to elicit information about the body’s burial spot. “I need you to have a think about if Peter Falconio was your son Quinton, and somebody knew something about where his body was,” the officer says.
Murdoch died in prison in September 2025, while serving a life sentence for the murder. While the body remains undiscovered, the footage offers a chilling reminder of the struggle to secure justice for long‑shuttered crimes.
