US country‑music star Ella Langley announced on Instagram that she had to cancel her sold‑out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a phone call threatened “great harm” to fans, venue staff and her team.
Police in Tulsa received the call just before the show at the 19,000‑seat BOK Center was set to begin. Officer Captain Richard Meulenberg described the caller’s message as “shots fired and bombs.”
Speaking to the press, Meulenberg said the police had inspected the venue several times, conducted a fresh sweep with sniffer dogs when the warning came in and found no credible threats. He added that the alert had “disrupted this entire event” for the thousands of fans in attendance.
The BOK Center issued a statement that “the safety and well‑being of everyone involved is our absolute priority” and that, after “careful consideration”, the show could not proceed. The centre apologized to those who had planned to attend.
Langley, who hailed from Alabama, has seen outstanding success in recent months. Her single “Choosin’ Texas” became the longest‑running number‑one in US chart history, and she swept the Academy of Country Music Awards in May.
She closed her Instagram post by thanking the fans for their patience, saying “I’m sorry for the disappointment” and promising updates on ticket refunds “as soon as possible.”
