Passengers on a Delta Airlines flight were evacuated moments before takeoff due to an engine fire at Orlando International Airport in Florida. The incident occurred as Delta flight 1213 was preparing to fly to Atlanta, carrying over 200 individuals, including passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots.
Footage shared on social media captures the alarming scene, with flames and smoke billowing from the right engine of the Airbus A330. Eyewitness reports highlighted the swift response from the Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting team, which was immediately dispatched to the aircraft. Passengers could be seen exiting the plane via inflatable emergency slides without incident.
The airport confirmed on social media that while passengers were safely evacuated, the fire prompted an immediate response from emergency services. "Passengers were evacuated. Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting team promptly responded," the statement read.
Delta Airlines has expressed appreciation for the passengers’ cooperation during the unexpected situation and extended apologies for the disruption. They reassured that safety remains their top priority and that efforts would be made to accommodate affected travelers as swiftly as possible.
