Manama, Bahrain – On November 6, 2026, the Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning a ballistic missile launch by the Houthi militia aimed at Saudi Arabia’s Madinah region and an unmanned aerial vehicle heading toward the Eastern Region.
Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attacks as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and international law, a threat to civilians and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque, and an assault on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites that offends Muslims worldwide.
The ministry praised the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces’ efficiency and vigilance in intercepting and thwarting the attacks, noting that Saudi air defenses had successfully neutralized both the missile and the UAV before they could reach their intended targets.
In the statement, Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability. Bahrain also emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Bahrain’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s legitimate right to self‑defence under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, stressing that any attack against Saudi territory must be met with proportional force to preserve regional peace and stability.
Bahrain urged the United Nations Security Council to take firm and deterrent measures to halt repeated Houthi terrorist attacks, prevent the targeting of religious holy sites and civilian objects, and hold perpetrators and their supporters accountable. The ministry also called for the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 (2015), to help preserve regional and international peace and security.
Officials from Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Houthi militia’s attempt to target the Madinah region with a ballistic missile was a malicious act that threatened holy sites associated with the Prophet Muhammad. The ministry underlined that such acts not only violate international norms but also jeopardize the safety of millions of pilgrims who visit the site annually.
By condemning the attack, Bahrain highlighted the importance of collective regional security. The ministry’s call for UN action reflects its commitment to multilateral solutions in addressing cross‑border threats in the Arabian Peninsula.
In a broader context, Bahrain’s statement serves as a reminder that the Horn of the Arabian Peninsula remains a fragile area where militant groups can threaten the sovereignty of neighboring states, prompting close cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council members to maintain stability.
