3,000 bottles of Marchesi Antinori wine on display

Thieves stole 30,000 bottles of wine worth about €5 million from the storeroom of Tuscany‑based Marchesi Antinori.

Seven masked individuals disabled alarms, shut cameras and loaded two trucks with prized reds such as Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso.

CEO Renzo Cotarella said it was the biggest robbery of its kind in Italy and hopes authorities will recover some of the cargo using footage from road cameras.

The victims include bottles normally sold between €150 and €500 each, hinting that the culprits were wine experts with inside knowledge.

Other Italian wineries have also been hit this year, underscoring a surge in high‑value wine thefts across the country.
