South African airline behind daring aerial stunt last Saturday has pulled out of a repeat show this weekend, the regulator said.
After the two jets passed less than 50 feet above the DHL Stadium roof before a rugby match, the move divided opinion – some labelled it reckless, others praised the precision.
Although the company had met safety procedures and received approval for the flyby, SACAA began an investigation after media commentary. The regulator confirmed that flight data and other recordings were secured for further analysis.
Airlink said the flights were carried out at approved safety altitude and speed, by an experienced crew, but it will not repeat the high‑profile showcase.
Flyovers, both by military jets and commercial airlines, have been part of South Africa’s opening displays at major sporting and presidential events. The regulator highlighted that safety and security compliance are not negotiable.
