The port city of Sevastopol, Crimea’s largest city, is now powerless after a Ukrainian drone attack disabled the main power substation, officials said yesterday.

Moscow‑installed governor Mikhail Razvozhayev confirmed that the strike, which took place overnight, will leave some neighbourhoods without electricity until at least Wednesday evening. Residents were urged to save mobile batteries, cut background app usage and check on elderly neighbours amid temperatures expected to reach 30°C.

The attack comes amid a growing Ukrainian campaign to isolate the peninsula, as Kyiv targets key power facilities and logistics routes, intending to reduce Russian revenue from the region and force President Putin to the negotiating table.

In parallel, Russian‑installed governor Sergei Aksyonov announced that all petrol sales had been suspended, leaving fuel for government services only – a move that is already causing panic buying of sugar and other essentials.

The latest strike follows the elimination of 48 military targets by Kyiv drones, and the Russian defence ministry’s claim of destroying over 300 Ukrainian drones the previous night. The war has entered a new stage of intensified aerial warfare, directly affecting civilians in occupied territories.
