Ontario Premier Doug Ford has said he will pause his province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the US, after it prompted President Donald Trump to terminate trade talks.

Ford made the announcement following discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday, stating that the advertisement will be paused on Monday so that trade talks can resume. Meanwhile, it will still air over the weekend on US networks, including during Major League Baseball World Series games.

Carney remarked earlier that day, Canada is eager to continue trade discussions with the US when the Americans are ready.

Trump criticized the advertisement, labeling it FAKE and egregious in a post on Truth Social, declaring that trade talks were HEREBY TERMINATED.

The controversial advert, funded by the Ontario government, includes a quotation from former US President Ronald Reagan, emphasizing that tariffs hurt every American.
