Actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a ride-share driver in Hollywood, police have said.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated that Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats in an incident reported around 00:15 PST (08:15 GMT) on Monday.
Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the altercation, according to LAPD reports.
Sutherland, who is 59 years old, was released after posting a bond of $50,000 and is expected to appear in court on February 2. The BBC has reached out to his representatives for comment.
The incident reportedly occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue and is currently being investigated by the LAPD's Hollywood Division.
Famed for his portrayals, including special agent Jack Bauer on Fox's '24' and the U.S. president in 'Designated Survivor', Sutherland is the son of esteemed actor Donald Sutherland.
This is not Sutherland’s first brush with the law, as he has faced multiple arrests in the past, including a sentence in 2007 for driving under the influence. He was previously arrested for assault in 2009, though that charge was later dropped, and he faced a recent arrest for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood back in 2020.
