WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Joe Biden is receiving radiation and hormone therapy as part of a new phase of treating an aggressive form of prostate cancer diagnosed after he left office, a spokesperson confirmed on Saturday. Biden's aide, Kelly Scully, announced that he is currently undergoing these treatments as part of his cancer management plan. At 82 years old, Biden left office in January following his decision to drop out of the reelection race six months prior due to a challenging debate against Republican Donald Trump amidst growing concerns about his age and overall health. 'Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris, who was Biden’s vice president.
In May, Biden’s post-presidential office revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones after he reported notable urinary symptoms. Prostate cancers are assessed for aggressiveness through a Gleason score, which ranges from 6 to 10. Biden was assigned a score of 9, categorizing his cancer as especially aggressive.
In addition, Biden recently underwent surgery to remove skin cancer lesions from his forehead, drawing further attention to his health status.
