A pilot with Starsky Aviation has been hailed as a hero following the miraculous crash-landing of his passenger plane on the shoreline near Mogadishu's international airport. Shortly after takeoff, the Fokker 50 reported technical difficulties, prompting the crew to request a return to Mogadishu. On landing, the aircraft overshot the runway, ultimately coming to rest in shallow water, yet all 55 passengers and crew escaped without serious injury.
Footage shared on social media showed passengers leaving the aircraft unharmed, and the prompt response from the African Union's mission alongside local authorities facilitated swift rescue efforts. Starsky Aviation representatives expressed relief for the successful landings and praised the pilot's quick thinking, which was pivotal in ensuring everyone's safety during the emergency. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the technical fault that necessitated the emergency landing.
