Best-selling author Colleen Hoover has revealed she has been undergoing treatment for cancer. The US writer, known for her popular novels such as It Ends With Us and Reminders of Him, announced in an Instagram post that her surgery was successful and she is approaching the end of her radiotherapy.
Hoover shared her experience in a candid selfie while in a hospital gown, stating, I'm doing much better. My cancer diagnosis was a while ago, but I chose to keep it private until I knew the outcome of my surgery and other treatments. In a previous private Facebook post, she had reassured fans that the cancer had been removed and confirmed, I'm okay.
Reflecting on her challenging past year, Hoover mentioned that she experienced recurring health issues throughout 2025, delaying her medical evaluation until after completing filming a movie adaptation of her work.
It felt huge and scary for a bit, and I had to miss out on significant events, including the Regretting You premiere. I only wanted to share my journey when I felt ready, she shared.
While she has not disclosed the specific type of cancer, Hoover hinted it may relate to lifestyle and environmental factors, humorously commenting on her aversion to vegetables and exercise. Yet, she remains grateful for her recovery, expressing her determination to continue her writing career.
This week also marked the release of her new book, Woman Down, her first since 2022, and she made appearances to engage with fans despite her health battles. Not because I'm lying about anything, but because I'm a badass, she joked after surprising attendees at a bookshop event.
