The Cessna aircraft departed Wilson airport bound for Hargeisa, Somalia, but lost communication with air traffic control just three minutes into its flight. The crash occurred over a residential area in Githurai, igniting a fire that ultimately resulted in the deaths of the four crew members on board, which included doctors and nurses, along with two individuals on the ground. A further two people sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Local authorities and aviation experts are currently investigating the crash's cause. Amref CEO Stephen Gitau has confirmed their collaboration with the relevant aviation authorities and emergency teams to uncover details about the event. Patricia Kombo, an eyewitness, recounted the harrowing experience of witnessing the crash, describing loud noise and a flash before smoke enveloped the area.

In a separate incident in central Kenya, a collision between a train and a bus near Naivasha resulted in at least four fatalities, as reported by a Red Cross worker. The bus belonged to the Kenya Pipeline Company and was transporting staff returning from a shift at a training facility. All injured passengers have been taken to hospitals for medical attention.

The nation mourns these tragedies as investigations continue into both incidents.
