In brief

On November 5, 2026, Pakistan’s ambassador Ahmad Farooq and Expo 2030 Riyadh CEO Talal Al‑Marri signed the country’s participation contract, following a history of attendance and a bronze award at Expo 2025 Osaka. The contract will allow Pakistan to develop a pavilion in Riyadh’s Culture District that showcases its heritage and future vision. The signing underscores Pakistan’s long‑standing ties with Saudi Arabia and its commitment to cultural exchange.

In Riyadh, on November 5, 2026, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan completed a key step toward its presence at Expo 2030 by signing its participation contract with the event’s organizers.

The ceremony took place at the Saudi Expo complex, where Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Commissioner General of the Pakistan Pavilion at Expo 2030 Riyadh, Ahmad Farooq, signed the document alongside the Expo 2030 Riyadh CEO, Talal Al‑Marri.

Ahmad Farooq said that the contract would give Pakistan an “excellent platform” to display its “rich legacy in culture, trade, and tourism.” He highlighted Pakistan’s trade potential and its close ties with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, adding that the partnership would strengthen relations with brotherly nations.

In response, Talal Al‑Marri welcomed Pakistan to the growing list of countries that have signed participation agreements for the exhibition. He noted that the contract marks the next phase of developing pavilions, programs, and visitor experiences for 2030, and that Pakistan’s pavilion would blend heritage with a forward‑looking vision.

Pakistan’s involvement in World Expos stretches back nearly 70 years, with its most recent appearance at Expo 2025 Osaka earning a bronze award for the pavilion’s distinctive design. The new project in Riyadh is set to build on that experience.

The planned pavilion will occupy space in Riyadh’s Culture District, a hub intended to showcase cultural contributions from participating nations. The design is expected to emphasize Pakistan’s artistic traditions while presenting concepts of innovation that reflect the country’s aspirations for the future.

Officials emphasized that the contract mirrors the deep and enduring ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The agreement is intended to deepen economic and cultural exchanges, supporting trade, investment, and tourism links.

Following the signing, the Pakistani organizing team will begin detailed planning for the pavilion’s architecture, exhibits, and programming. Organizers of the Expo have expressed confidence that the collaboration will produce a creative and engaging experience for the millions of visitors anticipated for the event in 2030.

With the signing complete, Pakistan moves forward into a full build‑out phase, laying the groundwork for a significant showcase that will highlight the nation’s heritage, creativity, and future ambitions on a global stage.
