Giorgio Armani, the illustrious Italian designer, will sit out his two scheduled shows at Milan Fashion Week, a first in his remarkable career that has spanned over five decades. At 90 years old, the fashion icon is currently recuperating at home after a brief hospitalization in Milan, as reported by Italian media. The esteemed designer had been actively involved in working on the collections, but his company announced that he will be observing the menswear shows remotely on Saturday and Monday.

This historic absence highlights the unprecedented nature of his decision, as Armani has been a staple presence at his catwalk events for most of his life. Last year, he hinted at a possible retirement in the coming years. The upcoming shows will unveil the Spring-Summer 2026 collections of his renowned luxury brand. Notably, Leo Dell'Orco, Armani's long-time collaborator and head of menswear design, will officially take the spotlight to conclude the shows.

Despite this setback, reports indicate that Armani is in good spirits and is anticipated to return for the brand's upcoming presentations in Paris slated for the end of June. Celebrating its 50th anniversary next month alongside Armani's 91st birthday, the brand signifies a legacy of innovation and excellence in the haute couture and luxury fashion landscape.

Born in 1934 in the northern Italian town of Piacenza, Armani initially studied medicine before pursuing a career in fashion alongside his late partner, Sergio Galeotti, when he founded his label in 1975. Since then, he has established a multifaceted empire encompassing haute couture, ready-to-wear lines, accessories, beauty products, jewelry, and luxury establishments worldwide, including locales in Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai.
