Stars turn out for final Armani fashion show in Milan
Milan's Pinacoteca di Brera became the stage for a poignant farewell to the late fashion icon Giorgio Armani during Milan Fashion Week. The show featured renowned stars such as Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, and Richard Gere, who gathered to celebrate not just a collection, but a legacy.
Originally intended as a celebration of 50 years of Armani's fashion house, the event took on a somber tone following the designer's passing. Over 120 of his notable designs were showcased, with models returning to the runway to flaunt both timeless suits and dazzling dresses.
The collection, which emphasized shades of green, blue, and purple, drew inspiration from Armani's roots in northern Italy and his escape to the volcanic island of Pantelleria, where he often vacationed. Lanterns reminiscent of a public viewing held earlier for Armani adorned the courtyard, wrapping the evening in nostalgia and respect.
Actress Cate Blanchett joyfully remarked, This moment, this atmosphere speaks for itself. There's a lot of memories here tonight. The show drew a standing ovation, especially for the final piece: a glorious blue gown mirroring Armani’s features, creating an emotional climax to his remarkable career.
As guests mingled, they also toured the Giorgio Armani: Milano, Per Amore exhibition, with notable attendees like Samuel L. Jackson and Anna Wintour adding star power to the evening. Music from famed Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi provided a fitting soundtrack to this unforgettable tribute to a fashion pioneer.
Across town, filming for a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada continued with Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci in attendance, underscoring the mingling of fashion and film that defines Milan during this week.
