The Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) Group participated in the 42nd Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul from October 31 to November 3, 2026, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The session, chaired by Türkiye, brought together delegations from Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states and joint action institutions for discussion of trade risk mitigation and economic cooperation.
Comprehensive Participation and Report Presentation
In line with specific mandates within COMCEC’s agenda, the IsDB Group presented official reports on the implementation of two major joint programs. The first report covered the performance of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development, while the second addressed the Special Program for the Development of Africa. These presentations were said to emphasize flexible financing solutions, credit initiatives, and trade risk mitigation measures that benefit member states.
The Saudi Press Agency noted that these measures aim to facilitate the flow of goods and services and stimulate sustainable economic growth across OIC member countries. By outlining the fund’s impact and the targeted development projects in Africa, the IsDB Group highlighted its role in supporting projects that promote economic stability and development.
Delegations from OIC member states were present to review performance metrics and assess the adequacy of financing arrangements. The group’s presence allowed member states to inquire directly about ongoing initiatives and discuss ways to tailor financing solutions to local needs.
The session’s focus on trade risk mitigation included discussion on policies that allow member countries to protect their exports and imports against market fluctuations, as well as measures to improve the regional business environment. By pushing for such risk mitigation frameworks, the IsDB Group underscored its commitment to building resilient trade links within the Islamic world.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the IsDB Group’s participation is part of a broader effort to promote economic cooperation among OIC member states and to enhance the impact of joint financial initiatives. The agency also highlighted that the group’s flexible financing solutions, including concessional loans and guarantees, offer member states the ability to undertake large infrastructure and development projects with lower cost of capital.
Concluding remarks at the session emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to foster growth and development. The availability of funding through the IsDB Group’s projects, coupled with the strategic discussion on risk mitigation, was seen as a promising step toward strengthening economic ties among member states.
All developments reported stem from statements released by the Saudi Press Agency and reflect the IsDB Group’s active engagement in OIC’s economic cooperation agenda.
