In brief

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the commencement of a criminal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate, both widely recognized for their contentious social media presence. The investigation follows the brothers' arrival in Florida last week after Romanian courts lifted travel restrictions that had been imposed due to serious criminal allegations.

The Tates, who have garnered millions of followers online, have faced accusations of human trafficking both in Romania and the UK. Their return to Florida came shortly after a Romanian court permitted their travel, allowing them to land at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Attorney General Uthmeier explained in a statement that his office is conducting a preliminary inquiry, collaborating with law enforcement and has already executed relevant subpoenas and warrants. The brothers, notorious for their outspoken and often misogynistic views, had previously been barred from leaving Romania for over two years after being charged with luring women for alleged sexual exploitation. Meanwhile, British authorities have also pushed for their arrest concerning accusations of rape and trafficking. Four women from the UK who had pursued legal action against Andrew Tate have called for extradition efforts to bring the brothers back to face justice. As of now, Florida officials have made it clear that the Tate brothers are not welcome in their state, as investigations continue.
