Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, expressing that Ukrainian drones could significantly bolster security in the Gulf region.

Important meetings are scheduled. We appreciate the support of those who are ready to work with us to ensure security, and we support them too, he stated via social media.

Earlier on Thursday, Zelensky offered Ukraine's expertise in drone technology as a means to enhance global security, especially in the Gulf.

This is crucial as energy security—and the cost of living, particularly in Europe—depends on their oil, gas, and other resources, as well as stable global markets, he explained in a message to the Joint Expeditionary Force's summit in Helsinki.

Zelensky stressed the need not only for the production of new weaponry and drones but also for the practical experience necessary to integrate these with existing defense systems. We possess this experience, he affirmed.

In return, he seeks assistance in defending Ukraine against the ongoing Russian invasion, stating, We hope Middle Eastern states will provide us the opportunity to enhance our defenses, particularly with regard to air defense missiles that we currently lack.

The BBC has reported that several Ukrainian drone manufacturers have been approached by Gulf states for potential collaborations but are awaiting official approval from Kyiv.

Kvertus, a Ukrainian company specializing in anti-drone technologies, confirmed contact from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, emphasizing the need for government coordination for any exports.

It's not just business; it's also about politics,” remarked Kvertus CEO Yaroslav Filimonov.

Reports suggest that the U.S. is considering reallocating arms initially intended for Ukraine to the Gulf amid heightened tensions with Iran, underscoring the importance of potential drone agreements for Ukraine.
