NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Country music star Morgan Wallen has been making headlines following an incident where he allegedly threw a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar. Despite footage showing his arrest for this act, Wallen denied the allegations to the police.
Approximately two weeks after his April 2024 arrest for reckless endangerment, Wallen took to social media stating, I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility – indicating he made amends with local law enforcement and others. By December, he had pled guilty to two counts related to the incident.
The footage from the Metro Nashville Police Department highlights Wallen’s denial of throwing the chair and captures the moments leading up to his arrest. After confronting officers about the allegations, Wallen was seen apologizing profusely, claiming he didn't mean to cause any problems.
As details of the incident emerged, police reports indicated they had witness statements substantiating the claims against him, alongside security footage depicting the chair being thrown.
This incident isn’t Wallen’s first controversy; he previously garnered attention for other incidents over the years, notably a public intoxication arrest and using a racial slur in 2021 that affected his career significantly.
In the end, Wallen’s guilty plea led to a week in a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation, with the potential for charges to be dismissed upon successful completion of probation. Wallen’s own establishment in Nashville opened shortly after his arrest, further drawing public attention to the star.
