In brief

Ukrainian drones targeted a Wildberries warehouse overnight, resulting in five deaths and several injuries. The strike took place 69 km south of Moscow and coincided with other attacks on the company’s sites across Russia. Russia’s defence ministry claimed to have intercepted 320 drones that night while Ukraine’s military intelligence reports confirmed the operation as part of ongoing logistics disruption. The incident fuels claims that Wildberries supplies the Russian military, a claim disputed by Moscow.

On Monday night, Ukrainian forces launched a series of drone attacks that hit an industrial facility linked to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, 69 kilometres south of Moscow. The strike produced heavy smoke and flames, and local officials confirmed the loss of five people, with ten others injured. Eight of the injured were in moderate condition, while one was seriously wounded.

Wildberries has been repeatedly targeted by Ukraine in an effort to disrupt logistics that the company allegedly supports the Russian war effort. While Moscow has denied that the firm provides material to troops, Kyiv cites the depots as a source of supplies and has protested the drone attacks as deliberate civilian targeting.

The Russian defence ministry reported intercepting and destroying 320 drones over the course of the night, a claim that underscores the escalating two‑way air‑defence battle. Ukrainian authorities, meanwhile, continue to use unmanned aircraft to strike strategic sites, a method that has sparked accusations of civilian collateral damage from both sides.

This incident adds on to a day of increasing border warfare, including a drone crash on a Russian beach resort that killed seven people and injured 58. Authorities on both sides maintain that their attacks are directed at legitimate military targets and that any civilian loss is unintended.

The Wildberries warehouse that was set ablaze in the St. Petersburg region is expected to be destroyed, with all goods inside likely lost. Reports from local officials confirm that the facility has been severely damaged, corroborating the satellite imagery shown by the government and various media outlets. Wildberries has yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.
