A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says.
Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that two boys, both 1, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man were killed after a drone hit a house they were staying in.
A 35-year-old pregnant woman and another woman, 76, were injured in the strike on Bohodukhiv, Synegubov reported.
This attack on Bohodukhiv occurred on Tuesday night and comes as Moscow renews strikes following a week-long pause that was observed during extreme cold temperatures.
In concurrent developments, early Tuesday, Russian forces dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk, killing two people, including an 11-year-old girl.
Bohodukhiv had already been targeted earlier in the week, with attacks cutting power to tens of thousands and resulting in multiple casualties, described by Ukrainian officials.
The escalation of attacks has prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to declare a state of emergency in the energy situation in the Kharkiv region.
The events serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis fueled by the conflict, as both sides appear to gear up for continued hostilities.
