Russian forces expanded their aerial assault on Ukraine on Sunday, killing three civilians and injuring more than ten, Ukrainian officials reported.
Firefighters put out a blaze that had started overnight at a book market in Kyiv after it was struck by a missile and a drone.
Ukraine said it shot down three missiles and 97 drones, while the mayor of Moscow claimed that 600 Ukrainian drones were launched toward the Russian capital that night.
In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, a guided bomb destroyed a house, killing two people. In Dnipropetrovsk officials also reported one death and 14 injuries following a drone strike.
Moscow’s mayor reported that one person died and 14 were injured in a Ukrainian strike against a Wildberries warehouse in Koledino, 25 kilometres from the city center. Videos showed the warehouse engulfed in fire and a large plume of smoke.
The conflict has intensified since July, with Ukrainian forces targeting what Ukrainian officials call logistics hubs used by Russian troops, including repeated strikes on Wildberries warehouses.
Romanian authorities added that a Spanish fighter jet intercepted a drone that had entered Romanian airspace near the Moldova border, marking the spread of hostilities beyond Ukraine’s borders.
