Prince William will travel to Norway for the funeral of King Harald V.
King Harald, who reigned for 35 years, was known as a modern, people‑oriented monarch and will be buried privately in the royal mausoleum at Akershus Fortress.
The funeral will be attended by King Charles’s son, Prince William, in a personal capacity, along with Princess Anne who is godmother to Norway’s new king, Haakon VIII.
Thousands queued to pay their respects to the late king during his lying in state at the Royal Palace Chapel before the service at Oslo Cathedral.
Other European monarchs, including Queen Sonja, the new Norwegian king and several dignitaries from Denmark, Sweden and the UK, will join the ceremony.
King Haakon delivered a heartfelt televised speech, thanking his father for his leadership, while King Charles sent a message praising King Harald for his dedication and humility.
Meanwhile, King Charles has returned to Scotland for a visit to Balmoral to host the Prime Minister, and the royal family remains focused on commemorating their beloved cousin.
