The granddaughter of former US President John F Kennedy Jr has announced her diagnosis with an aggressive form of cancer, stating she has been given less than a year to live. Tatiana Schlossberg, the daughter of former US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, shared the news in an essay published in The New Yorker on Saturday - the 62nd anniversary of her grandfather's assassination. The mother of-two climate journalist has voiced her opposition to her cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s role as US health secretary under President Donald Trump.

In her essay, titled 'A Battle With My Blood', Schlossberg described her diagnosis with acute myeloid leukemia after giving birth in May 2024. Despite a healthy lifestyle, including running and skiing, she shared that her prognosis looks grim even after undergoing treatment, such as chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. She recounted a heart-wrenching moment when her doctor indicated that she might only have a year left to live, causing her to reflect on her children's futures without her.

Schlossberg also detailed her distress as she observed her cousin being approved for a position in a field she feels passionate about, specifically regarding public health. She lamented, 'I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position.' The emotional weight of these experiences resonates deeply within her family, known for their long-standing political legacy and personal tragedies, as they navigate yet another chapter of hardship.}
