British Man Fatal Paragliding Accident in Catalonia

A 63‑year‑old British man died in a paragliding accident in Spain’s north‑eastern Catalonia region, authorities have said.

Emergency services received a report of the accident in the Palau de Noguera area, near the town of Tremp, about 13:30 local time (14:30 BST) on Wednesday.

Rescuers found him seriously injured, gave first aid until medical teams arrived, but he later died.

Local media reported that the man may have become tangled in power lines before hitting the ground, although officials have not confirmed the cause.

The UK Foreign Office said it was “supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain”.

Palau de Noguera is located near Àger, an area popular with paragliders and hang gliders on the edge of the Pyrenees.

Three fire brigades, two medical teams, Mossos d'Esquadra and other units attended the scene.

Authorities were expected to inform the man’s family through British consular channels, according to local media.
