Albanese acknowledged that previous efforts to combat antisemitism had been insufficient, taking responsibility for the government's lapses in protecting the community.

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke remarked that the government is raising the threshold for acceptable speech, noting that some individuals have exploited the notion of free speech to promote harmful messages without resorting to violence.

While there has been a positive reception towards the focus on gun control and hate prevention, some community leaders have expressed concerns regarding the potential for free speech violations and ideological policing.

Albanese has vowed to support recommendations from antisemitism envoy Jillian Segal, which some criticized for their implications on free speech, particularly in academic settings.

The Jewish Council of Australia backed the initiatives but warned about risks of misusing educational policies to silence legitimate discourse. Albanese’s government is now accountable for ensuring the safety and dignity of all Australians, especially in the wake of escalating antisemitism.
