Armed Man Detained Near Trump's Golf Course Ahead of Presidential Visit

A suspect armed with a pistol and prohibited ammunition was arrested near the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes in California, just days before the president’s fundraising dinner.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, was found with a loaded handgun and a 16‑round hollow‑point magazine in his vehicle. He had been walking through the golf course grounds, taking photos, and monitoring security activities according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The arrest followed a plainclothes federal tip at 3:30 p.m. ET (11:30 p.m. BST). Investigators said he was also wanted by the El Segundo Police Department for an unrelated robbery nearby.

At Taele’s home in Downey, agents from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau found an illegally modified AR‑Platform rifle, body armour, high‑capacity magazines, and notebooks with disturbing statements.

While authorities say no credible threat to the public emerged, the case underscores the importance of vigilance and cooperation between local, state, and federal law‑enforcement units before events involving high‑profile officials.

President Trump will attend a Republican fundraising dinner at the course on Tuesday, after visiting the venue earlier in the week.
