Agatha Christie has made a posthumous return to the literary scene by teaching an online writing course via BBC Maestro. The course, which costs 79 pounds (around $105), features a digital avatar of Christie, created with AI technology and supported by her estate. The avatar, voiced by an actor, aims to guide students in the art of storytelling while raising ethical questions about the use of AI in creative industries.

Michael Levine, the CEO of BBC Maestro, emphasized that the project is not about resurrecting Christie, but rather providing a representation to teach her craft. The release of this course comes at a time when the arts community is concerned about potential copyright changes that may affect the use of artists’ work in training AI models without consent. However, the Christie family has fully supported the initiative, ensuring that the teachings are based only on her own writings and maintaining the integrity of her image and voice.

James Prichard, Christie's great-grandson, confirmed the family’s involvement, stating, "We just had the red line that it had to be her words." This creative endeavor marks a fascinating intersection of literature and technology, inviting new generations to engage with Christie's timeless insights on writing.
