In brief

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continues its economic empowerment initiative in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza Strip, targeting 1,000 vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities. The program delivers digital vocational training and psychological support, enabling participants to start businesses and regain self‑reliance. Beneficiaries express deep gratitude to Saudi Arabia and KSrelief for restoring hope amid displacement.

In the town of Deir Al-Balah in Gaza’s Strip, a new wave of digital training sessions began on 7 November 2026, aiming to provide economic opportunity to 1,000 people who are among the most vulnerable in the region. The initiative, run by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in partnership with the Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, focuses on skill development that can be applied within the harsh conditions of displacement.

Participants, many of whom live in temporary shelters, were introduced to a range of online courses that cover graphic design, basic programming, and entrepreneurial skills. The training is designed to be accessible regardless of one’s academic background or physical ability, ensuring that people with disabilities can also benefit. The sessions are held through devices that the program provides, allowing those who lack reliable internet or hardware to join without obstacle.

After receiving the first modules, beneficiaries reported noticeable changes in how they view their time. They say the courses have helped them transform idle hours into productive work, giving them a sense of purpose beyond simply enduring hardship. By learning how to create digital products or manage small online businesses, participants can generate a steady income and support their families.

Beyond technical instruction, KSrelief has incorporated psychological support into the program. Volunteers and professionals offer counseling sessions that address the trauma of displacement and the stress of living in temporary housing. This holistic approach is intended to reinforce the practical skills with mental resilience, enabling the participants to pursue new opportunities with confidence.

Many of the attendees expressed gratitude toward Saudi Arabia and KSrelief. They described the assistance as more than temporary relief; it has restored hope at a difficult time. “We feel empowered and able to provide for our families,” one beneficiary said, adding that the support preserves dignity and encourages self‑reliance.

The Saudi mission behind this effort is reflected in its spokesperson’s statement, underscoring the kingdom’s commitment to standing by the Palestinian people through various crises. The partnership between KSrelief and local partners aims to keep the assistance continuous, with plans to expand the program’s reach to additional communities across the Gaza Strip.
