In brief
NCVC rolled out a seed‑dispersal and rainwater‑harvesting program in Bisha Governorate, targeting 60,000 hectares of rangeland to boost vegetation cover and curb desertification. The effort, part of the National Afforestation Season, involves government agencies, academic institutions, and volunteers.
On 4 November 2026, the NCVC, through its Aseer Region branch, launched a seed‑dispersal initiative in Bisha Governorate to rehabilitate natural rangelands.
The program, part of this year's National Afforestation Season under the theme “A Generation That Plants for a Thriving Nation,” targets 60,000 hectares of degraded land.
Seeds of native forage plants, especially ramth and arfaj, will be dispersed, along with other species suited to local conditions, to increase vegetation density and improve ecosystem resilience.
In addition to seed dispersal, the NCVC will harvest rainwater to support plant germination and reduce drought stress, aiming to preserve biodiversity and curb desertification.
Several government agencies, educational institutions, and volunteers participated in the fieldwork, reinforcing community involvement in environmental protection and conservation of natural resources.
The initiative continues NCVC's ongoing rehabilitative efforts and aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative and the broader Saudi Vision 2030.
By restoring rangeland cover, the project is expected to enhance vegetation, reduce land degradation, and contribute to national green and sustainability goals.
