Chris Brown, the Grammy-winning artist known for hits like "Freaky Friday" and "Turn Up the Music," has been released on bail by a London court after being charged with inflicting an "unprovoked attack" at a nightclub earlier this year. The incident took place at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, where he allegedly assaulted a music producer with a tequila bottle. Brown, 36, has not yet entered a plea but expressed his relief on Instagram, stating, "From the cage to the stage!" following the bail hearing.
The bail amount set by the judge was £5 million, with conditions requiring Brown to pay £4 million immediately and the remaining £1 million within seven days. This security fee serves as a financial assurance that he will return to court. The singer had been in custody since his arrest last week and was initially denied bail before it was granted on Wednesday.
With his world tour scheduled to kick off in Amsterdam on June 8, followed by shows in cities including Manchester, London, Cardiff, and Glasgow throughout June and July, Brown is eager to move forward. His next court appearance is set for June 20, right in between concerts at Cardiff's Principality Stadium and London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Judge Tony Baumgartner instructed Brown to surrender his passport unless he is on tour, and he must also adhere to specific bail conditions which include residing at a designated address, avoiding contact with the alleged victim, and not visiting the Tape nightclub.
Brown's co-defendant in the case is Omololu Akinlolu, 38, also known as HoodyBaby, who is slated to appear in court alongside him.
