In brief

Bollywood star Tiger Shroff was shot at during a drive out of a Juhu football club but was not hit by any bullets, police said, after a burst of gunfire from two armed men. He was left shaken, and his driver was also injured. The incident reignites worries about the safety of public figures after a string of attacks in India, prompting a stern pledge from state officials that such intimidations will not be tolerated. The event echoes previous assaults on celebrities and politicians, highlighting an urgent need for stronger protective measures.

Bollywood star Tiger Shroff survived a midnight shooting in Mumbai, police said today. The actor was not hit by any of the stray bullets that struck the car he was travelling in.

The 36‑year‑old was shot at on Sunday evening while leaving a football club in the suburb of Juhu. Two men fired a volley of shots at close range from the front passenger seat as the car moved slowly past a crowd.

Police confirmed that Shroff emerged unhurt, but his driver sustained injuries. The incident has heightened alarm over the safety of high‑profile figures in India.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor after the attack. “These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,” Shinde said.

India has seen several targeted attacks against public personalities in recent years, including a 2024 assault on Salman Khan’s home and the shooting death of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai.

Shroff, son of actors Shahrukh Khan and Ayesha Takia, debuted in 2014’s *Heropanti* and has since starred in multiple blockbusters. He is also a football enthusiast, playing for the professional club Mumbai FC.

The case is under investigation, and authorities urge all public figures to tighten security measures in the wake of the incident.
