The move follows the show’s Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program. The renaming is likely temporary and serves as a satirical jab at Trump’s America‑centric decisions. The announcement appeared on the show’s social media with a graphic replacing the town’s sign. The season, slated to premiere on 16 September, continues the series’ tradition of political commentary.

The creators of the long‑running animated series announced that the next season will be titled South America – a clear jab at President Trump’s recent attempts to rename lakes and gulfs.

Trump signed an executive order in August to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America, and last year declared the Gulf of Mexico be known as the Gulf of America. The show has always poked fun at the president, and this renaming is part of that satire.

The announcement comes after South Park won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program. It remains uncertain whether the new name will be permanent or a temporary gag.

The statement on the show’s official social media featured a graphic of the town sign with the word ‘Park’ replaced by ‘America’. The image also included a thank‑you to the parent company Paramount – a Skydance capitulation.
