Mr. Helberg recounted the shock upon discovering the vessel only meters from his home, noting he had to bend his neck to view the top of the towering ship. His neighbor, Jostein Jorgensen, initially thought Helberg was outside when he ran over to alert him, only to find the house still. After ringing the doorbell repeatedly, Jorgensen eventually reached Helberg via phone.
The NCL Salten, registered in Cyprus and carrying 16 crew members, was en route to Orkanger when the mishap occurred. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway, according to Norwegian police. Helberg humorously referred to the ship as a "bulky new neighbor" that would eventually leave. Notably, this vessel previously ran aground earlier in 2023 but managed to free itself.
