Good Good Golf Retracts Controversial Driver Ad After Public Outcry
YouTube content‑creator brand Good Good apologised after a short commercial for a new Callaway driver sparked backlash for depicting a woman being pushed to the ground. The clip showed co‑founder Garrett Clark leaping over a woman reaching for the club, shouting, Do not touch my new driver. Viewers criticised the video as trivialising violence against women.
The brand took the footage down within hours and posted a statement on X. “This video is not aligned with our values,” Good Good said. “We sincerely apologise and will continue to champion inclusivity in golf.”
Callaway, a longtime partner of Good Good, expressed disappointment but welcomed the corrective action. “We look forward to working together to ensure a more inclusive space in golf,” it added.
The incident illustrates the heightened scrutiny of marketing content for gender‑sensitive audiences. Good Good’s YouTube channel, launched in 2020, has grown to 2.13 million subscribers and now sponsors a PGA Tour tournament. The PGA Tour has also announced a Good Good Championship scheduled for November in Texas.
The brand’s apology and quick removal of the offending video underscore the industry’s shift toward accountability and respect for all participants on the course.
