Ethan Guo, a 19-year-old from the United States, has been on a journey to become the first person to fly solo to all seven continents, hoping to raise money for cancer research. He had documented his travels extensively on social media, attracting over 1.3 million followers on Instagram and around 329,000 on TikTok. Guo had taken off from Punta Arenas, Chile, with a flight plan that did not include landing in Antarctica. However, after touching down on King George Island, located about 75 miles from the Antarctic coast, he was detained by local authorities for landing without proper authorization.

Since his detention, Chilean officials have confirmed Guo is no longer in custody but has to remain on the island until his case is evaluated. His dream of landing on all seven continents was nearly complete, with only Antarctica left to visit. During an interview, Guo expressed his excitement about having almost achieved his goal despite the unforeseen circumstances surrounding his adventure.
