Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has taken a stand against an alleged blackmail scheme by filing a criminal complaint with the South Korean authorities. Reports indicate that a woman approached Son last year claiming she was pregnant with his child and subsequently demanded money to remain silent.

The case took a further turn when a man in his 40s purportedly contacted Son in March with similar demands, escalating the situation. The Gangnam Police Station in southern Seoul confirmed the detention of both individuals on charges of extortion and attempted extortion, as reported by Yonhap.

Son's agency has publicly stated that the footballer is the "clear victim" and has expressed a commitment to pursuing legal action against anyone involved in the blackmail attempt based on "clearly false claims." The agency emphasized that an investigation is ongoing and assured that updates will follow as the case unfolds.

Son Heung-min, a forward for South Korea, is an influential figure in world football, notably for his performance with Tottenham Hotspur, where he has netted 173 goals in 451 appearances since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. The timing of this incident coincides with Tottenham's upcoming Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao this Wednesday.
