Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court contingent on several restrictions, permitting him to continue his scheduled world tour. The 36-year-old artist was apprehended last week in Manchester, where he faces charges of grievous bodily harm following his alleged assault on a music producer at Tape London nightclub on February 19, 2023.
During a bail hearing at Southwark Crown Court, Mr. Brown's legal team argued for his release, supported by a £5 million ($6.7 million) security fee paid to the court. The judge, Tony Baumgartner, accepted the application, allowing Mr. Brown to tour internationally, starting in Amsterdam on June 8. The tour will see him performing in several European countries, including Germany, Britain, Ireland, France, and Portugal, before heading to the United States.
However, the judge imposed conditions requiring Mr. Brown to surrender his passport while not on tour and to avoid Tape London, where the alleged attack occurred.
Mr. Brown has yet to enter a plea regarding the charges against him as British law restricts reporting details that might influence a future jury. Notably, fellow American rapper Omololu Akinlolu, known as HoodyBaby, has also been charged with grievous bodily harm linked to the same incident and is expected to appear in court alongside Mr. Brown on June 20.
