Australian actor Julian McMahon, best known for his iconic roles in high-profile series such as Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has sadly passed away at the age of 56. His wife, Kelly Paniagua, confirmed that the actor died on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, after bravely facing a cancer diagnosis. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible,” she expressed poignantly in a statement released to Deadline.

McMahon’s rise to fame came with the beloved supernatural series Charmed, which laid the groundwork for his subsequent success on the acclaimed medical drama Nip/Tuck, where he portrayed the charismatic plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy. The show, which aired from 2003 to 2010, earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.

In a heartfelt tribute, co-star Dylan Walsh expressed his shock at the news. “We rode this wave together and I loved him. Jules! I know you'd want me to say something to make you smile—all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace,” he shared.

Aside from his notable television roles, McMahon also portrayed Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four films released in 2005 and 2007, and more recently, he starred in three seasons of FBI: Most Wanted. The series' producer, Dick Wolf, expressed his sadness over McMahon's departure, calling it “shocking news.”

Interestingly, McMahon was the son of a former Australian prime minister and in a twist of fate, he embodied an Australian prime minister's character in Netflix's The Residence, marking one of his recent roles. Notably, McMahon was married three times, including a marriage to Australian singer-actress Dannii Minogue, sister to the renowned Kylie Minogue.
