A stabbing incident that left three people seriously injured unfolded near a primary school in the southeastern suburb of Dandenong, southeast Melbourne, on Friday morning at around 11:30 a.m. Ambulance crews were dispatched after the emergency services were called by local residents who had noticed three injured individuals in close proximity to the school grounds. The three victims were identified as a 28‑year‑old woman and two men, aged 26 and 35, according to statements released by the police later that day.
The woman was admitted to a hospital with life‑threatening injuries, while the two men received treatment for wounds believed to be stab wounds that were considered serious but not life‑threatening. All three patients were reported as hospitalized within the same timeframe, and there was no indication that they had sustained any other injuries beyond those caused by the reported stabbing.
Police officials stated that the victims are known to each other and that detectives have begun an investigation. The statement clarified that the police are not currently searching for any other persons beyond the three identified victims. Acting Inspector Rebecca Hall indicated that the police did not receive broader information about an additional suspect or a wider pattern of violence in the area.
A nearby primary school had to temporarily lock down while emergency services arrived on the scene. Acting Inspector Hall told reporters that the children were inside the building and that the lockdown prevented any of the students from leaving for the street during the incident. She emphasized that the children were not exposed to the violence that unfolded outside.
Investigators from the family violence unit have commenced their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack. The police are examining the connections between the involved parties, as well as any potential motives that might be related to family or interpersonal disputes. No additional persons are being sought in connection with the event at the present time.

The children were inside the school at the time and were prevented from coming to the street and so did not witness anything.
