In brief

Afghanistan’s western Herat province welcomed its first tube‑manufacturing plant on Nov. 4, 2026. The $5 million factory, owned by Abdul Ahad Sadat, currently produces 5,000 tubes and aims to broaden production to larger vehicles. Local officials say the plant will generate jobs and aid economic rebuilding after the war.

A 5‑million‑U.S.‑dollar plant producing metal tubes opened in the western Afghan province of Herat on Nov. 4, 2026, according to a report from Xinhua. The facility, owned by Abdul Ahad Sadat, began making small tubes used in motorcycles, rickshaws and bicycles.

Owner Abdul Ahad Sadat explained that the plant currently produces about 5,000 tubes each month. He added that the company plans to start producing tubes for larger vehicles, such as trucks and buses, once the plant’s capacity is expanded.

Provincial leaders welcomed the new factory. Mawlawi Bashir Ahmad Sirat, head of the province’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said that establishing factories like this one would create jobs and help Afghanistan rebuild its post‑war economy.

Production Capacity

The plant’s current output of 5,000 tubes caters to small‑mobility vehicles that are common in rural and urban areas. The expansion to larger vehicle tubes will require additional machinery, which the owners plan to add in the coming months.

Economic Impact

Experts highlight that local employment at the plant includes technicians, welders and administrative staff. These jobs are expected to support families and reduce the need for labor migration.

Sirat noted that the factory represents a step toward industrial diversification, a goal emphasized in Afghanistan’s national reconstruction plans after years of conflict.

Future Plans

Sadat’s company will also seek to supply tube components to regional automotive suppliers. The company intends to increase production to meet domestic demand and potentially export to neighboring markets.

As the plant grows, it will likely attract ancillary businesses such as metal finishing and logistics services. This could further strengthen Herat’s role as a commercial hub in western Afghanistan.

Local officials and industry observers keep an eye on the plant’s progress, hoping it will trigger a ripple effect across the province.
