In a distressing turn of events, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Mumbai residence, leading to a man being detained by local police. Reports indicate that Khan was stabbed during a confrontation with an unknown assailant early Thursday morning. Following surgery, doctors have confirmed that Khan is on the mend.

Investigators have gathered CCTV footage from the incident to piece together the timeline. Early signs suggest the attack may have been an attempted robbery, although the detained suspect's identity and involvement remain unclear.

A nurse at Khan's residence, Eliyama Philip, provided significant insights into the chaotic night. While tending to Khan's child alongside a nanny, she noticed a shadow lurking near the bathroom. The intruder, armed with a weapon, allegedly demanded a hefty sum of 10 million rupees (approximately $115,477) before chaos ensued. During the altercation, both Philip and Khan sustained injuries.

Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital reported Khan's critical condition upon arrival, noting a knife fragment lodged near his spine, which required immediate surgical intervention. Thankfully, timely medical care averted potential irreversible damage. On Friday, Dr. Dange reported that Khan's condition has improved significantly, allowing him to move from intensive care, albeit with restrictions on his activities for the week.

Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner, Dixit Gadam, revealed that the weapon has not yet been recovered, and investigators are examining how the assailant gained entry. Police confirmed that the suspect accessed the property via a fire escape.

The 54-year-old Khan is a renowned figure in Indian cinema, celebrated for his performances in films like "Omkara" and has been honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award. He hails from a distinguished lineage, being the son of former cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore.
