Later on Saturday, a collision involving an e‑bike and a car occurred in the suburbs of Geelong, 65 km southwest of Melbourne. Two teenagers were injured when the e‑bike they were riding hit the car. One male passenger was airlifted to hospital with life‑threatening injuries, while a 17‑year‑old boy was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life‑threatening.
Victoria Police released a statement summarising the weekend’s events and noted that the total number of road deaths in the state since Friday had climbed to eight. They also confirmed that four of the deceased were motorcycle riders and three were car drivers.
In terms of broader statistics, as of Saturday 2026, Victoria had recorded 220 road deaths, down from 247 at the same time in 2025. The data reflects a decline in overall traffic fatalities for the year.
Emergency services responded to all incidents promptly. Police canvassed the scenes, gathered evidence, and provided assistance to casualties, while ambulance crews treated injured individuals and transported them to medical facilities.
The Victorian transport department has not yet issued statements regarding any investigative findings or safety measures that may follow the incidents. Local authorities have reinforced calls for road safety awareness following the heightened fatality count.
Authorities continue to monitor traffic patterns and enforce regulations to prevent further tragedies as Victoria navigates its safety challenges on the roadways.
