In brief

On October 31, a Chinese film festival launched in New Delhi under the theme “Two Nations, One Screen,” featuring ten Chinese films and attracting artists, academics and cinephiles. The event, jointly organized by the Chinese embassy, the Delhi International Film Festival and the National School of Drama, aims to strengthen India‑China cultural ties and open prospects for co‑productions.

On Friday, October 31, the Films Division Auditorium in New Delhi hosted the opening of a Chinese film festival, the first of its kind in the city in more than a decade.

The two‑day event, themed Two Nations, One Screen, screened about ten Chinese films and drew a diverse crowd of Indians from the arts, cinema, academia and, as one attendee noted, a wide range of cinema lovers.

At the opening ceremony, Ram Kishore Parcha, President of the Delhi International Film Festival, emphasized the festival’s role in building cultural bridges.

“It will unlock fresh avenues for co‑productions and artistic exchange between film‑makers from both the nations,” he said.

The festival is jointly hosted by the Chinese embassy and the DIFF in association with the National School of Drama, an autonomous institution funded by India’s Ministry of Culture. The event’s location at the Films Division Auditorium places it at the heart of the capital’s cultural scene.

Officials say the festival is expected to strengthen bilateral ties, foster artistic exchanges and create new opportunities for collaborative film projects between Indian and Chinese filmmakers.
